All My Offenses,

This piece I included in the 2002 Show at Myhelan. An armature of vine woven in the form of a female figure, twisting in a spiral. She is then Fleshed with tissue squares (Scotts Tissue Paper) dipped in Amber Shellac.
A Second layer of tissue in white paraffin wax is built upon that skin. Her Right arm is missing, a gap in her right torso, and her upper back as well. The white layer is also not complete around the figure.
Each square has a confession of an offense I have committed, from base insults; not doing the dishes, eating the last of the fries, being late to meet a friend,.....to dramatic offenses; suffocating a kitten in a bucket of water, not crying at my grandmothers funeral, ect.
All these offenses are frequent things everyone can commiserate with, some taken out of context are terrible. They are subtly legible, study of the form is definitely implied. Interpretation I definitely tried to keep as diverse as I could to reflect on the viewer a revelation of there own.

Mazes Chorus,

This piece was made from a tree rescued from the woods.
Carpenter Ants had done most of the work for me, hollowing out the core making a long vessel out of the trunk. I then carved a complete maze around its shell, it actually runs well, in the medium range of difficulty, but fare.
I made the dolls that hang from the mouth of the tree. These dolls, when there hands are clapped together, say particular things. (The sound comes from inside the tree)
There are different statements that are used for making choices when there is indecision."Eeny Meeny Miny Mo..." "The stars portend.." "Good, Bad,..." 'Wandering...oh, this is pretty."
There are twelve in all, each with there own rhyme, or method: indifference, spiritual, political, supernatural, cosmic, childish games,.... It is an interactive piece, my first, and stands taller then average height. I hoped it had enough presence, as a figure would, to give it animation.

Tomato Skin Baby Suit,

View of back.
I created this piece in 1997 from the skin of tomatoes, boiled and skined. Each piece of skin adhered to the others without need for glues. There is a front and back as if functional to wear, with little booties and buttox flap. The size would be for an infant of six to eight months.

This piece exaggerated the idea of the massive industry surrounding the need for child products. Comparing it to produce, the alteration of the genetics of tomatoes to increase shelf life, splicing tomato DNA with milking cows creating stupid beasts without the necessary instincts to survive on their own!
